Caring for dogs should not come at the planet’s expense

We are a Shropshire dog bakery with a practical approach to sustainability: make thoughtful choices, reduce avoidable waste and keep improving as better options become available.

Powered more responsibly

A bakery powered by renewable energy

Our bakery runs on 100% renewable energy. We generate most of it ourselves using rooftop solar panels, then store surplus power in our onsite battery system for use when the sun is not shining.

Producing and storing energy at the bakery helps us reduce our reliance on energy generated from fossil fuels while keeping our ovens, equipment and everyday operations running.

Dog treat packaging with less waste

Packaging has to protect every treat properly, but it should not create unnecessary waste. We choose recyclable, compostable and recycled materials wherever they are suitable.

Recyclable packaging

We prioritise packaging that can enter established recycling streams wherever product safety and freshness allow.

Compostable options

We use compostable materials for suitable products and applications, helping reduce the amount of packaging sent to general waste.

Recycled materials

Most of our packaging materials are made from recycled sources, and we continue looking for ways to reduce material use further.

Responsible sourcing

Supporting UK suppliers where possible

Our ingredients and packaging are responsibly sourced, and we choose UK suppliers wherever a suitable option is available.

Buying closer to home supports other UK businesses and helps us maintain clear, dependable relationships throughout our supply chain.

  • Responsibly sourced ingredients
  • Thoughtfully selected packaging
  • UK suppliers supported wherever possible
Growing something good 1 review = 1 tree

For every customer review we receive, we plant a tree. With the help of our customers, we are slowly building our own little forest — one biscuit and one honest review at a time.

Reducing our everyday footprint

Sustainability is also shaped by the smaller decisions made around the bakery every day.

Local employment

We try to employ people who live locally, making it easier for members of our team to walk or cycle to work.

Electric company vehicles

Our company vehicles are electric, helping reduce tailpipe emissions from the journeys we make for the bakery.

Carbon-neutral website

We also take steps to keep the Life of Riley website carbon neutral, extending our environmental commitments beyond the physical bakery.

Progress, not perfection

Always looking for a better way

We know there is always more to do. As materials, technology and responsible sourcing options improve, we will continue reviewing how we bake, pack and operate so we can reduce waste and environmental impact wherever practical.
